Cheryl has been a professional musician for 17 years and a music teacher for 15 years. After completing her Colourstrings certificate she continued to teach and perform. From 2011-2017 she taught full time at the VSO (Vancouver Symphony Orchestra) School of Music and at the Colourstrings Conservatory of Music. She was also directing a children’s choir, a youth music group, and accepting gigs when time permitted it. In 2017 she moved to Victoria and was saddened to say goodbye to over 300 families in Vancouver that she had been working with weekly. She greatly valued the experience she gained in Vancouver and cherishes the relationships she made there.
In Victoria, Fall 2017, she set up her own music business. It was a joy for her to become connected with a vibrant musical community on the island. As we enter Winter 2020 she has a full schedule teaching privately and running Colourstrings Early Childhood Group classes. She continues to perform as a drummer, percussionist, pianist, and vocalist at Broad View United.
