Ages: 3 - 10 year olds
Welcome to an exciting year of faith exploration with our programs for toddlers on up! Following the Children’s Time in the sanctuary, we move to our own space to explore the stories and teachings of Jesus, and the many ways that God's love and gift of hope encourage and guide us. We gather in small groups by age, with stories, crafts, conversation, fun activities, science and games to learn and connect our faith with everyday life.

Ages: 6 months - 2 year olds

A caregiver will be available in the creche most Sundays for infants and toddlers who are ready to be left in care. Parents are also welcome to hang out in the creche room with their child where toys and stories are available while the service is livestreamed into the room for the adults.

Youth grades 6-12 have the option on Sunday morning to stay in worship after the children’s conversation or to join their peers for an exploration of the biblical passage for the month through conversation, games, activities, and art. This is a time for asking questions and digging into matters of faith, and curiosity is welcome.

Young adults at BVU are deeply valued and full of potential. BVU seeks to support and walk alongside young adults in their God-given agency, gifts, voices, talents, and stories. 

Join with other young adults from BVU for a time of conversation and faith exploration. Lunch is provided after the ConXion service, with opportunities to connect and get to know other young adults aged 18–30. Our gatherings include a check-in and a “question of the day,” followed by conversations that naturally grow from there.

On the third Sunday of each month, we engage directly with the Bible. It doesn’t have to be overly serious—just authentic. (BYO-Bible on third Sundays!)

In addition to these lunches, a variety of other young adult events happen throughout the year on occasional Friday evenings. Sign up for the young adult contact list to receive updates as they come.

At Broad View United the BVU Quilters are making quilts and gifting them to survivors of the residential school system through the QUILTS FOR SURVIVORS Project. We have booked the room for Mondays from 1:00 to 3:00 in the afternoons and 7:00 to 8:30 in the one evening session which is the first Monday of the month (except for the first one). The schedule for September is Monday, September 8th at 7:00, Monday, September 15th at 1:00, Monday, September 22nd at 1:00 and Monday, September 29th at 1:00. People who are interested in joining the group should have taken the first Phase of Healing Pathways or are planning to take the course, in the near future. Have you ever played a handbell before? Curious to learn? This is an opportunity to join a joyful and inclusive music group. You don’t need to be able to read music, basic skills needed will be taught. This group will share their gift of music a couple of times during the church year during a service.

Living in this world requires much of us. The ebbs and flows of life can leave us longing for a quiet place to simply be with no agenda than to listen to the still, small voice within and to honour the experience of the day that has been. Sacred Pause at Day’s End is an opportunity to gather ‘together’ online. We will ground ourselves with a poem, a reading from a sacred text or an excerpt from a wide body of spiritual literature, and then enter into a brief time of contemplation, guided meditation and silence. Tai Chi Chih is a gentle form of Tai Chi which concentrates on health and balance rather than the martial aspects of Tai Chi. There are only 20 positions in this form, so it is easy to pick up and no special clothing is needed, just comfortable clothes. The group meets on Tuesday at 9:30 starting September 2nd. The sessions begin with self-massage, a few stretches then followed by the form. The class ends at 10:30 and is free. We meet in the BVU Commons room. Children 6-12yrs are invited to join our Children's Drum Circle. This is a free percussion ensemble for children to come as they are and to experience an inclusive musical space where we will drum, sing, and play a variety of percussion instruments. Drum Circle time will be 45 minutes with a 15 minute snack and community building time beforehand. Five sessions of approximately 6 weeks from November to June will be offered. The group will share their music during worship a few times during the year.

An opportunity for families with 2S/Trans/Non-Binary family members to join us for dinner in a warm and welcoming space. Whether you’re a parent, child, youth or individual looking to connect, we invite families of all kinds – biological, chosen, foster, extended, blended or otherwise – to come together in a supportive community. Registration is required but there is no cost.

Lectio is a meditative spiritual practice involving the repeated reading of a passage (scripture, poem, etc.) aloud three times. Participants first identify a word or phrase that resonates with them, focusing on personal attention rather than the overall meaning. After sharing feelings or visions related to their chosen word, they reflect on the week's invitation it evokes. The Broad View Exercise Group is for seniors who wish to improve or maintain
their range of motion, flexibility and balance. 45 minutes of standing and
sitting exercises using hand weights and resistance bands with a stretch and
relaxation component at the end. A friendly and supportive social group.

This monthly meeting is a space where conversation and planning meet. Bring your ideas!

Whether it’s the Pride Parade, the Queer Film Festival, the Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil, BVU’s ongoing Affirming ministry, or new initiatives—you are invited. Anyone who brings their voice, identity, and story, and who longs to create change, even in small ways, belongs here. Come whenever you feel called. BVU Chancel Choir meets prior to the community choir at 6:30 pm on Thursdays for 30 minutes to work on a 4-part anthem to share with the congregation on the last Sunday of the month at the Bridge service. This year they will be practicing in the chapel and working with a new model of singing in the round. All are welcome to sing just in the chancel choir or carry on with singing.

The Broad View Community Choir is a 90-voice non-auditioned mixed-voice choir open to all. The choir is sponsored and managed by Broad View United Church, which recognizes that community singing is a spiritual practice unto itself, and that singing together creates joy, fun, connection, and improves physical and mental health. We sing a variety of music: swing standards from the 40’s, classic pop, folk, and R&B from the 60s and 70’s, gospel, folk and world music.

The choir is led by popular choir director Brian Tate and is accompanied by jazz pianist Ashley Wey. We offer a fall and spring concert accompanied by a combo of piano, bass, and drums. Although sheet music is provided, music-reading ability is not necessary as there are practice tracks provided for all parts and the music is easy to learn. You are welcome to come and try us out before making a commitment.

Join us each month for an exploration of our monthly worship theme through a variety of award-winning movies. Some are funny, some are well known, some are emotional but all of them cause us to think and engage our faith through the magic of cinema. Each month the movie title will be published in the newsletter, and you are invited to join us. Popcorn, beverages, and other snacks provided. Discussion follows the film.
