Ages: 3 - 10 year olds
Welcome to an exciting year of faith exploration with our programs for toddlers on up! Following the Children’s Time in the sanctuary, we move to our own space to explore the stories and teachings of Jesus, and the many ways that God's love and gift of hope encourage and guide us. We gather in small groups by age, with stories, crafts, conversation, fun activities, science and games to learn and connect our faith with everyday life.

Ages: 6 months - 2 year olds

A caregiver will be available in the creche most Sundays for infants and toddlers who are ready to be left in care. Parents are also welcome to hang out in the creche room with their child where toys and stories are available while the service is livestreamed into the room for the adults.

Young adults at BVU are deeply valued and full of potential. BVU seeks to support and walk alongside young adults in their God-given agency, gifts, voices, talents, and stories. 

Join with other young adults from BVU for a time of conversation and faith exploration. Lunch is provided after the ConXion service, with opportunities to connect and get to know other young adults aged 18–30. Our gatherings include a check-in and a “question of the day,” followed by conversations that naturally grow from there.

On the third Sunday of each month, we engage directly with the Bible. It doesn’t have to be overly serious—just authentic. (BYO-Bible on third Sundays!)

In addition to these lunches, a variety of other young adult events happen throughout the year on occasional Friday evenings. Sign up for the young adult contact list to receive updates as they come.

Tai Chi Chih is a gentle form of Tai Chi which concentrates on health and balance rather than the martial aspects of Tai Chi. There are only 20 positions in this form, so it is easy to pick up and no special clothing is needed, just comfortable clothes. The group meets on Tuesday at 9:30 starting September 2nd. The sessions begin with self-massage, a few stretches then followed by the form. The class ends at 10:30 and is free. We meet in the BVU Commons room. Beginners and advanced creators gather for knitting, crocheting, advice and conversation. Our group makes items for donation to charitable organizations as well as for ourselves, family and friends.

Join with men of all ages who simply want a chance to connect with othermen in the congregation for a time for conversation, sharing of life storiesand an exchange of ideas. Order a beverage of your choice (and a bite to eat ifyou wish), pull up a chair and enjoy a time of fellowship andcamaraderie.

Classes are drop-in and $10 per class. Sorry, cash only. New students need to arrive 15 minutes before class starts.

A drop-in group for women elders who delight in conversation. Each session there will be time to share our stories, support each other, laugh, visit and of course, refreshments.

Participants first identify a word or phrase that resonates with them, focusing on personal attention rather than the overall meaning. After sharing feelings or visions related to their chosen word, they reflect on the week's invitation it evokes. The Broad View Exercise Group is for seniors who wish to improve or maintain
their range of motion, flexibility and balance. 45 minutes of standing and
sitting exercises using hand weights and resistance bands with a stretch and
relaxation component at the end. A friendly and supportive social group.

The Broad View Community Choir is a 90-voice non-auditioned mixed-voice choir open to all. The choir is sponsored and managed by Broad View United Church, which recognizes that community singing is a spiritual practice unto itself, and that singing together creates joy, fun, connection, and improves physical and mental health. We sing a variety of music: swing standards from the 40’s, classic pop, folk, and R&B from the 60s and 70’s, gospel, folk and world music.

The choir is led by popular choir director Brian Tate and is accompanied by jazz pianist Ashley Wey. We offer a fall and spring concert accompanied by a combo of piano, bass, and drums. Although sheet music is provided, music-reading ability is not necessary as there are practice tracks provided for all parts and the music is easy to learn. You are welcome to come and try us out before making a commitment. 

This is an opportunity for families with children to join with other BVU families to connect, share a meal, engage in some crafts and activities and end with story time and songs. A child friendly meal is provided and special dietary needs will be accommodated where possible.

Pre-registration each month is helpful for knowing how much food to prepare but there is always extra for those who join last minute.

There are no fixed roles—no set team members, chair, or staff. Whoever you are—Two Spirit, LGBTQIA+, queer or trans youth, young adult, Millennial, Baby Boomer, or Elder—you are welcome.

This monthly meeting is a space where conversation and planning meet. Bring your ideas!

Whether it’s the Pride Parade, the Queer Film Festival, the Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil, BVU’s ongoing Affirming ministry, or new initiatives—you are invited. Anyone who brings their voice, identity, and story, and who longs to create change, even in small ways, belongs here. Come whenever you feel called. You are warmly invited to join our monthly Women Exploring Spirituality group as we read and reflect together on How We Learned to Be Brave: Decisive Moments in Life and Faith by Mariann Edgar Budde, Episcopal Bishop of Washington. Each gathering begins with a time of check-in, followed by conversation around a portion of the book, as we share our insights, our questions, and the wisdom of one another’s lives. Together we explore how these stories of courage speak into our own experiences and the realities of the world we live in today. All women are welcome — come and be part of the journey.

This short Vigil will help us mark the beginning of Truth and Reconciliation Day to remember the genocide and loss related to Residential Schools and the overall effects of Colonialization. This 20 minute service will be a time of lamenting, remembering, honouring and re-committing ourselves to the path of Reconciliation. Participants will be invited to then head to the Royal Athletic Park to attend this year’s South Island Powwow to celebrate First Nations culture. Grand Entry at 12 noon and 6pm.
